Speakers at Semantic Technology & Business Conference are experts in implementing semantic technology to solve business problems. We are honored to announce that Andrew Nicklin, manager of New York City's Open Data portal, and Joel Natividad of Ontodia have joined the conference to deliver keynote addresses on the ways semantic technology and Big Data are affecting every industry in New York City.

New York City is leading numerous technology and entrepreneurially-driven initiatives, from the Mayor's "Digital City of the Future" vision, to the Open Data Law, and the new CornellNYC Tech campus on Roosevelt Island. NYC intends to be the first "City in the Linked Open Data cloud." Nicklin's presentation, New York - The Digital City of the Future sets the scene for the conference by putting all of these plans into context and demonstrating how New York's industries can participate in this quintessentially data-driven future.

Joel Natividad CEO & Co-founder Ontodia

During his presentation, NYC Remapped, Natividad will explore how New York City has become the global hub of several data-driven industries and repositioning itself as the center for Open Data innovation. A 20-year IT veteran, Natividad won the NYCBigApps Challenge in 2011 and has a multitude of experience implementing semantics at Fortune 1000 companies.

Best-selling author of The Cluetrain Manifesto, Small Pieces Loosely Joined, and most recently, Too Big to Know, David Weinberger is an accomplished speaker and commentator.

Chris Welty is a recognized leader in the Semantic Web at the IBM TJ Watson Research Center, where he is part of the core team that developed Jeopardy champion, Watson. Welty works to advance semantic technology standards and linked open data in natural language processing.

Deborah Estrin is an internationally known speaker who is a pioneer in the field of network sensing and mobile health. She has been named one of CNN’s “10 most powerful women in tech” and was chosen by Wired UK as one of “50 people who will change the world.” She is the first professor to join CornellNYC Tech.
