This case study will compare how two companies approached the challenges involved with defining realistic objectives for using the Semantic Web and what obstacles were encountered in the development process.\nIn one case, an early adopter of Semantic Web technologies developed a proprietary tool that allowed for highly sophisticated relationships to be established. Bringing those relationships to fruition in developing innovative websites, though, was a challenge on all levels, from selling the business case to creating queries that could efficiently deliver the results.\nAlternately, in another world/time, the expectations of the Semantic Web leaned towards the little "s" semantic web, where the implementation was expected to be light and less attention was paid to maintaining industry standards. The goals were more modest too, making them attainable, but short-sighted.\nIn both organizations there were benefits and limitations to their approaches. This presentation will explore those issues as well as facilitate discussion on the future of Semantic Web implementations on media websites.
