DESCRIPTION:Click for Latest Location Information: http://semtechbiznyc2012.semanticweb.com/sessionPop.cfm?confid=68&proposalid=4963\nWe will start by summarizing some advantages that Semantic Technology offers as a basis for, or adjunct to, an integrated enterprise architecture. We will focus on how to apply OWL and RDF in practice and summarize some of the key advantages they confer in building a more adaptive architecture. The tutorial is organized as follows: \n?	Characteristics of Semantic Technology that provide advantages for enterprise architecture. \n?	Using "pace layering" as a metaphor for understanding how semantics can help isolate the parts of your architecture that need to change at different rates. \n?	An overview of design-time and run-time applications of semantic technology. We will present an organizing principle to help keep track of the various types of models that can be authored, borrowed or generated and how they relate to different parts of your architecture. \n?	The role of an "Enterprise Ontology" as an organizing principle for your architectural initiatives. \n?	We will then present a dozen different ways to apply Semantic Technology and an Enterprise Ontology to your architecture, ranging from: o	Case studies of applications that have been proven and could be done now, even in relatively conservative IT shops o	Descriptions of proof of concept applications that are ready to be applied to mainstream use, but have not yet been widely adopted o	Some areas of anticipated developments of Semantic Technology that seem inevitable but will require applied research to become implementable. We expect this session to be highly interactive.
