The idea is to provide a coherent view over existing repositories (semi structured databases, relational databases, triplestores, etc.) so that users and/or applications are able to easily find them. SLDC will eventually become a distributed query answering system; that is, not only a Yellow Page-like catalog, but an entry point to the underlying data that transparently supports query answering across multiple sources. The talk will describe the way in which Semantic Technologies--such as RDF(S), Linked Data, OWL, SWRL, and SPARQL--are being employed in order to solve the problems tackled by SLDC, which include data discovery, information integration, integrity constraint validation, access control, and role entitlement.
